Ashoka Bearsden revamped
Ashoka Bearsden, part of Harlequin Leisure Group, Europe's largest chain of Indian restaurants, has undergone an extreme makeover under new franchise owner Imtiaz Aslam as well as introducing new dishes to its popular menu.
The most obvious change is to the restaurant's decor, with the former dark burgundy and mustard replaced with rich creams and deep browns. And a range of colonial artefacts and traditional Indian antiques and bric-a-brac - from sitars and tablas to swords and even bullets - now adorn the walls, with subtle traditional Indian lighting giving the restaurant a warm and intimate ambiance.
Mr Aslam, said, 'The whole restaurant has been totally transformed. And we've launched a new menu to introduce some exciting new dishes to complement the old favourites.'
One of the most popular new dishes is the garlic chilli chicken and mushroom - a tandoori chicken marinated in yoghurt and spices cooked in a clay oven and simmered in mushroom masala, served with garlic potatoes.
