A quarter of a century after leaving primary school, entrepreneur Sanjay Majhu - who recently took over the reins of Harlequin Leisure Group from Charan Gill MBE in an £8 million deal - returned today ( Friday 10 th June ) to Cuthbertson Primary School, Shawlands, Glasgow to tell pupils how they too could realise their ambitions in life through hard work - regardless of their backgrounds.

Said Mr Majhu, 'When I was invited to address the kids at my old primary school at morning assembly I jumped at the chance. My experiences at school helped set me on the path to success in business.

Having had some unhappy experiences at primary school in East Kilbride where I stood out like a sore thumb, Cuthbertson Primary, with its greater racial mix, was a revelation to me. I was much happier at Cuthbertson - there was so many different people there from so many different walks of life and different cultures and it was much easier to blend in. The teachers were supportive and, together with the pupils, my self-confidence was bolstered at Cuthbertson.
