In 2001, the first Ashoka Shak rose from the ashes of the former 'Harry Ramsden's' at the Phoenix Leisure Park Linwood, close to Glasgow Airport. Since then the concept has been refined complete with a sassy new design which has been further complemented by the introduction of an innovative new thali menu to bring you the ultimate fast Indian dining experience!
The first in this funky new Ashoka Shak concept opened in McArthurGlen Designer Outlet in Livingston in December 2002, giving ardent shoppers, cinema goers and curry devotees from east Central Scotland their first taste of the fabulous Ashoka fare which is legendary among curryholics in the west!
Hot on its trail, the Ashoka Shak Coatbridge opened at the Showcase Leisure Park, Baillieston to spice up the lives of Lanarkshire curry lovers,and in June 2003 the famous Ashoka name burst onto the skyline with the opening of the Ashoka Shak Dundee at Camperdown Leisure Park.
Having recently taken on the the role of the MD of the Ashoka Shaks, Cook Gill is committed to expansion.'My chief focus is customer service,' he said. 'And I've developed an expansion plan that will see even more Ashoka Shak's open in Scotland in the not-too-distant future'.
